"A sumptuous and deeply flavoured Barossa shiraz without the presence of overcooked fruit, spirity alcohols or excessive sweetness. The first wine under this label (whose fruit used to end up in the Keyneton Estate red) is deeply spicy and distinctively floral, scented with ripe plums, blackberries, cedar/dark chocolate oak, cinnamon and cloves. A powerful core of dark fruit is framed by velvet tannins and tightly knit with fine-grained oak, finishing with lingering dark fruit and an impression of silky elegance." Jeremy Oliver, OnWine

"The Henschke brand continues to expand, this wine made off old vines grown in the Ebenezer and Tappa Pass areas of Keyneton and the Barossa. Aged in 100% new French oak, with no fining, it's big and rich and just a little overdone, the plummy, chocolatey fruit awash with alcohol. It does yet have a lot going for it: it slips along the tongue like a hovercraft, silky and sweet and seductive. It's flashed with spices, intensely perfumed, attacks the mouth with flavour and has a sweet floral character that rises deliciously. The tannins are good, the wine is full and flavoursome - but the slight over-cooking robs it of true definition. 91 points." Winefront Monthly (December 2005)
